BLACK OWNED BRANDS WE LOVE

BLACK OWNED BRANDS WE LOVE

In honor of Black History Month, Boho Locs is taking some time to show some serious love to other black businesses that are beautifully blossoming in their own right.
Here are just a few of our favorites across the spectrum and the diaspora.
Fashion - Hanifa https://hanifa.co/
Founded by designer and visionary Anifa Mvuemba, Hanifa is the independent, black-owned women's apparel label taking the fashion world by storm.
While each and every design is beautifully different from the next, all of Hanifa's ready-to-wear collections are characterized by vibrant colors, unique textures, and flattering silhouettes—elements that are a subtle, yet a proud nod to Mvuemba's Congolese roots.
Not to mention that Hanifa was made with the inclusion of every woman in mind. All styles offer sizes 0 to 20, while also making luxurious fabrics and high-quality tailoring accessible to every woman (Beyonce and Tracee Ellis Ross included!), at every turn of her lifestyle.

Hair & Skincare  - Ava Estell https://uk.avaestell.com/
As black women, loving the skin you're in literally starts with appreciating your melanin and nobody knows that better than Ava Estell.
This all-natural skincare, hair, and wellness brand has only been around for a little over a year, but they've been deeply and successfully dedicated to making sure that we have everything we need to feel wholly beautiful and confident within ourselves.
From their beloved Body Restore Combo is the absolute truth in fighting hyperpigmentation, to their Rosemary-infused miracle hair Growth Oil, Ava Estell is the perfect choice in taking your self-care game to the next level.
Wellbeing -  Forvrmood https://forvrmood.com/
Jackie Aina is well known for holding it down for black girls and women on the makeup front for almost 15 years, but now she's looking after our wellbeing with Forvrmood.
Forvrmood is a lifestyle and candle brand that promotes mental and emotional wellbeing by challenging the harmful narrative that black women must be strong all the time. In other words, it's Jackie's way of letting us know that we all deserve a life of rest and luxury.
And for Forvrmood, that starts with treating yourself to a set of candles to match your vibe. From rich and luxurious, to cozy and down to earth, this swanky candle brand has a scent and an aesthetic to match whatever you feel, whenever you feel it.
Makeup for Melanin Girls is here to make sure that having more melanin no longer means feeling more stress when looking for the right shades of makeup.
After experiencing the impact colorism has on the beauty industry firsthand, MFMG founder Tomi Gbeleyi set out to create both community and a set of products that helped dark-skinned women feel seen, heard, and catered to in the beauty industry.
And she did just that. Since 2016, MFMG has blossomed into a brand that celebrates deep skin tones, diversity, and inclusivity by offering up gorgeous, highly-pigmented eyeshadows, highlighters, and lipstick specifically for women with deeper skin tones.
Jewelry - VITAE London  https://vitaelondon.com/
VITAE London is the black-owned, London-based watch brand that has successfully paired minimalist luxury with a maximal social justice mission.
Offering up ultra sophisticated unisex watches in golds, silvers, and emeralds, VITAE is the perfect piece of wrist candy for those of us who know that if we're going to dive into a more opulent and refined lifestyle, we must first look the part.
However, this brand isn't all about being flashy. In fact, they're aligned with a deeper mission. Each watch supports a child's education across sub-Saharan Africa. By supporting VITAE, you'll be using your time wisely (pun intended!) by helping disadvantaged children reach their full potential.
Now, you've heard about our favorite brands, what they do and why we love them!
Drop a your favorite brands, or even your own business in the comments so we can all show some love within our community.
