Goddess Locs Install Tutorial: Step-By-Step (Feat. Ama!)
Meet Ama, today’s boho muse. Here’s her finished look: soft, textured, vacation-ready, and giving FULL boho goddess.
Below is the exact method we used to achieve her style.
Step 1: The Base – Eight Cornrows + Ten Singles Up Front
We start with a simple foundation:
8 cornrows going straight back
10 singles in the front for a seamless individual install
This gives us flexibility, fullness, and the perfect blend of crochet + natural movement.
Step 2: Crochet Install in the Back
We used Goddess Locs in Midnight 22" as the base.
The crochet install is super simple:
Insert your crochet needle under the cornrow.
Loop the loc onto the needle.
Pull it through and secure.
It’s quick, easy, and beginner-friendly—even if you’ve never installed locs before.
Step 3: Individual Method in the Front
This part is MAGIC for achieving that natural, “are-those-your-locs?” finish.
Here’s how it works:
Loop the loc onto the root of your single braid.
Pull the natural braid into the middle of the loc.
Hide it completely for an undetectable look.

✔ No tension
✔ Completely seamless
Adding Volume & Texture: Hawaii Curls (Free Gift!)
Now let’s pump up the look.
We grabbed a pack of our Hawaii Curls. Each pack includes about 20 strands of soft, wavy, water-inspired curls.
To build Ama’s voluminous bun, we used:
8–10 strands
They blend effortlessly with Goddess Locs and add that signature Boho Locs dimension we’re known for.
Full Install & Wrapping Technique
Want to see another way to install your locs? We're going to show you a fire look using Boho Queen Locs and will show you an alternative wrapping method for the individuals in the front:
For this technique, the base consists of eight cornrows in the back and 10 individuals in the front. For the crochet in the back, only half the pack is used for a flatter look. The key difference is the individual wrapping in the front, which uses wrapping hair, nail glue, and scissors for a secure finish:
Wrap your natural hair at the top out of the way.
Get your wrapping hair, wrap over that and past your natural hair.
Seal with a little drop of glue and repeat.
The final look includes 8 to 10 strands of Hawaii Curls, Rainbow Ties and Cowrie Jewels & Empress Cuffs for a unique, boholicious look that we absolutely love!
